It is difficult to decide definitively when the first bokken showed up because of mystery in old martial arts sword training and free record-keeping.

When illuminating larger areas like driveways, stages, warehouses, parking lots or any other area that needs wide, even light coverage, go with a floodlight. When highlighting specific points like display objects, artwork, architectural details, or landscape features, use a spotlight. It can illuminate a larger amount of space with the same wattage and lumen output as a spotlight. A floodlight, on the other hand, can have a beam spread of up to 120 degrees. This beam is more concentrated and easier to point and control. What is better, spotlight or flood light?Ī spotlight casts a narrow beam of light, usually no wider than 45 degrees. Quality-tested and built to last, our high-powered LED flood lights provide bright lighting for commercial exteriors and large outdoor spaces. During the night, the lights will use whatever energy is stored in the battery to light up the bulls and provide light. When placed in the proper area, these solar panels will absorb the energy from the sun and store it inside a battery that’s just one of the components of a floodlight. Some flood lights are solar-powered, which means they have a small solar panel attached to the fixture. Why do they call it a flood light?Īs the name suggests, the term flood light stands for electric goods that illuminate with extreme brightness and lighten up the whole area. Our 100W LED floodlight is integrated with an excellent cooling mechanism that helps overcome typical issues associated with outdoor flood-lighting, such as. More focused kinds are often used as a stage lighting instrument in live performance such as concerts and plays. They are often used to illuminate outdoor playing fields while an outdoor sports event is being held during low-light conditions. What does flood light mean?Ī flood light is a broad-beamed, high-intensity artificial light. Some of these spaces include a large parking lot, places that host events like concerts or theatre halls, and outdoor playing fields. Flood lights are most commonly found in places where plenty of artificial light is needed. Browse our range of outdoor security lights today, with lots of die cast aluminium options that can be easily fixed to walls and roofs.Flood lights are an artificial form of light with a broad beam. They ensure that no matter what happens when night falls, it’ll be bright and clear to the eye, including to any security cameras you may also use. With timer adjustable light settings, you can use this motion activated PIR floodlight products to help keep your home or business safe. Not only are they bright and rated in energy classes like A, A+, AA++, but you should find they last far longer than traditional halogen bulbs. Whether you’re looking for garden flood lights to illuminate a yard or patio, or are in search of a PIR floodlight to help protect your business, almost all the products in our range make use of energy efficient LEDs. With products from top brands like Zinc, Wessex Electrical and Luceco, you’ve come to the right place at Toolstation. Activated by motion, these bright lamps cast a large beam and ensure you can see properly in the dark no matter what you’re doing, while adding a sense of surveillance wherever it’s needed. From driveways, gardens and outbuildings at home to business premises and forecourts, there are all kinds of places where an LED security light comes in handy. Take the last plot we created: ggplot(data = penguins, The order of the functions matters: the points will be drawn before the trend line, which is probably what you’re after.Ĭhallenge 1 – where should aesthetics be defined? We just witnessed Simpson’s paradox, in which omitting important variables in the analysis leads to inaccurate interpretations. The longer the beak, the deeper it usually is. It now makes a lot more sense: by splitting the data into different species, we can see that the two variables a positively correlated. We can highlight the “species” factor by adding a new aesthetic: ggplot(data = penguins, # Warning: Removed 2 rows containing missing values (geom_point).Ī linear model makes it look like the relationship is negative… We might have to reveal more information to have a better understanding of it. Geom_smooth(method = "lm") # `geom_smooth()` using formula 'y ~ x' # Warning: Removed 2 rows containing non-finite values (stat_smooth). Want a linear trend line instead? Add the argument method = "lm" to your function: ggplot(data = penguins, Read up on how it automatically picks a suitable method depending on the sample size, in the “Arguments” section. To better understand what happens in the background, open the function’s help page and notice that the default value for the method argument is “NULL”. This is important information, as there are countless ways to do that. The console shows you what function / formula was used to draw the trend line. # Warning: Removed 2 rows containing missing values (geom_point). Geom_smooth() # `geom_smooth()` using method = 'loess' and formula 'y ~ x' # Warning: Removed 2 rows containing non-finite values (stat_smooth). How can we combine several layers? We can string them with the + operator: ggplot(data = penguins, It’s hard to see any kind of trend in there, but we might be missing something, so let’s add a trend line on top.Ī trend line can be created with the geom_smooth() function. The geom_() function specifies what geometric element we want to use.The aes() function groups our mappings of aesthetics to variables. In it, we declare the input data frame and specify the set of plot aesthetics used throughout all layers of our plot The ggplot() function initialises a ggplot object.Let’s go through our essential elements once more: Geom_point() # Warning: Removed 2 rows containing missing values (geom_point). Let’s look at the relationship between bill length and bill depth: ggplot(data = penguins, Scatterplots are often used to look at the relationship between two variables. Learn more about it with ?penguins, and have a peak at its structure with: str(economics) # spec_tbl_df (S3: spec_tbl_df/tbl_df/tbl/ame) # … with 334 more rows, and 2 more variables: sex, year # species island bill_length_mm bill_depth_mm flipper_length_mm body_mass_g Let’s have a look at another dataset: the penguins dataset from the palmerpenguins package. We could use a stat_*() function instead of a geom_*() function, but most people start with the geometry (and let ggplot2 pick the default statistics that are applied). In ggplot2, each geometry has default statistics, so we often don’t need to specify which stats we want to use. That is what statistics are applied automatically to the data. Here, we don’t need to specify what variable is associated to the y axis, as the “bar” geometry automatically does a count of the different values in the conservation variable. the geometry is "bar", for “bar chart”.the variable conservation is mapped to the aesthetic x (i.e. the x axis). We can see our three essential elements in the code: Now we have a useful plot: we can see that a lot of animals in this dataset don’t have a conservation status, and that “least concern” is the next most common value. But nothing is shown on the plot area, because we haven’t defined how to represent the data, with a geometry_* function: ggplot(data = msleep, Ggplot2 has done what we asked it to do: the conservation variable is on the x axis. We want to visualise how common different conservations statuses are, so let’s associate the right variable to the x axis: ggplot(data = msleep, We need to tell ggplot2 what we want to visualise, by mapping aesthetic elements (like our axes) to variables from the data. Let’s start with specifying where the data comes from in the ggplot() function: ggplot(data = msleep) You can find out about the dataset with ?msleep. In ggplot2, the 3 main components that we usually have to provide are:įor our first example, let’s use the msleep dataset (from the ggplot2 package), which contains data about mammals’ sleeping patterns.

We found that uploading the 16.8GB folder never used more than 5% of CPU resources. One big plus to Backblaze is that the desktop client is engineered to be ultra-lightweight. IDrive wasn’t excruciatingly slow, but it took over 18 minutes to restore the same tranche of data. We downloaded a 1.2GB selection of files, and Backblaze completed the download in just over 10 minutes. IDrive managed to transfer the folder in just 1 hour and 32 minutes, while Backblaze took 2 hours and 42 minutes.īackblaze, however, was significantly faster at restoring files. We tested out the performance of IDrive and Backblaze by uploading a 16.8GB folder filled with photos and music. IDrive vs Backblaze: Performanceīackblaze will ship you a hard drive with your files if you need to retrieve a large volume of data (Image credit: IDrive) It’s also worth noting that Backblaze limits recipients to downloading 1GB of data from your account per day. Once you reach that threshold, you’ll need to pay extra to continue sharing files. You cannot easily keep track of which files you’ve shared or set expiration dates for share links.īackblaze makes sharing simpler, but only for up to 10GB worth of files. IDrive allows you to share any number of files, but recipients must create a free IDrive account in order to view them. Neither IDrive nor Backblaze does a particularly great job with file sharing. IDrive will display some less common file types, such as RAW image files, that Backbalze does not support previews for. You can open Word documents, images, videos, and audio files in the cloud. The file preview capabilities of the two platforms are similar. So, tools for previewing your files in the cloud are limited, and neither platform enables you to edit documents or images without downloading them. IDrive and Backblaze are both designed primarily as cloud storage platforms, not cloud-based productivity suites. However, you can pay extra to keep outdated file versions for one year or indefinitely. Even if you discard old versions, files are only truly deleted from IDrive when you empty out the built-in archive folder.īackblaze only keeps old file versions for 30 days. These files do count against your storage limit, so you have control over how many versions to keep and for how long. With IDrive, you can store up to 30 previous versions of a file for an unlimited amount of time. When it comes to file versioning, IDrive is much more robust than Backblaze. For files that you want to keep constantly synced across all your devices, IDrive offers a dedicated sync folder in your file explorer. You also get to set the schedule when these folders are backed up. One thing we like about both the IDrive and Backblaze backup clients is that you get to choose what folders to designate for upload to the cloud. IDrive offers a backup and sync app for desktop and mobile devices (Image credit: iDrive) A woman who manipulates men to fight for her shakes Tenten's belief in her teammates as they fail to help her. Lee's teammate Neji Hyuga is a talented ninja referred to by many as a genius. Tensai Ninjya Neji to shiyoubu na no desu / Tenten ni wa yuzurenai tatakai ga aruno desu (天才忍者ネジと勝負なのです / テンテンには譲れない戦いがあるのです) Lee goes to slip a love letter into her shoebox, in hopes of getting closer to Sakura.Ī Competition with the Genius Ninja Neji / Tenten's Must-Win Battle He mounts numerous "love offenses" on his target, but Sakura manages to easily brush them off. Koi mo mata seishyuun no Ichi buta no desu / Ai to ha futari de oruka ni taru koto desu (恋もまた青春の一部なのです / 愛とはふたりで愚かになることです) Love is a part of the Springtime of Youth / Love makes both sides Crazy Lee and Naruto have a contest to see who can get the voucher. So this wasn't the best of episodes, but after last week, we can't complain too much.Rock Lee is a Ninja who can't use Ninjutsu / Rock Lee's Rival is Naruto It at least now shows that Rock Lee has more then half a chance to make it. By the end of the episode we see that Tsunade had risen the success rate of the surgery to fifty-eight percent, and while it may not seem like a lot to some people. While this episode was a slight improvement, hopefully they decide not to drag out Rock Lee's decision out any longer, because I think 3 episodes is enough. It was quite heartbreaking watching Rock Lee look so depressed and crying. We miss the old Rock Lee who was cheesy just like Guy, but not to that extreme. We have to say we're hoping Rock Lee gets his surgery, which it looks like he will, because Rock Lee being so depressed is a downer. Quite frankly there were times that could put you to sleep, but luckily the good was there to keep you awake. Also some of the flashbacks in this episode we had seen before, and some that were from just the last episode. The music is great, but it always gives you this feeling that some action is about to happen, so it was a bit disappointing when the music played and all Rock Lee did was write down what Guy was saying on a notepad. There was also an interesting scene towards the end where Guy was walking on his hands and as he's talking to Rock Lee, and they all of a sudden start playing the music for when there's usually a battle about to happen. Guy has always been pretty cheesy and too much of him in an episode can really be an overkill. Kakashi Sensei & Guy Sensei While there were some good things about this episode there was unfortunately some bad stuff to sort through. These Flashbacks basically seemed to serve as telling us how important it is to Rock Lee to be the best ninja in the world. There was actually one great scene where Guy Sensei told Rock Lee that if Rock Lee dies during surgery then he would die right there also, and Guy telling Rock Lee to have the surgery. Rock Lee and Guy definitely have the best Sensei/ninja relationship and Guy really loves Rock Lee. We saw a scene where Guy made a promise to train Rock Lee to become one of the best. Guy Sensei and Kakashi's harmless rivalry is always funny to watch, because usually it's only Guy that wants the challenge with Kakashi playing it cool most of the time and usually Guy always comes out on the losing end of these things anyway. We also get a pretty funny scene where Guy Sensei plays Kakashi in a game of Rock, Paper, Scissors, and then adds in the rule that whoever loses has to do five laps around the village on just their hands Guy Sensei loses unfortunately and ends up having to walk around the village on his hands. The fact that he doesn't know any ninjutsu or genjutsu seems like it made him unpopular. The flashback goes farther though this time with Neji insulting him and we see that much like Naruto and Gaara, Rock Lee is another ninja who also wasn't treated too well by other classmates. Rock Lee stands up and makes a speech about becoming one of the best ninja even if he only knows how to use Tai-Jutsu. The flashback takes us back to the day that we saw glimpses of in the Gaara and Rock Lee battle, where we see a young Rock Lee, Neji, and Ten-Ten on their first day of becoming Genin. The whole episode was basically Rock Lee sitting down thinking and him having one big flashback. This week's episode focuses strictly on Rock Lee as he is still pondering whether he's willing to risk his life to let Tsunade perform the surgery that could repair him. If wielding axes, knives, and a whip sounds more like the tools of a Belmont than Link, that’s intentional. She also swings a whip in one of four different directions, and can use a variety of secondary weapons like axes and knives for more flexibility when fighting. The action feels a bit unusual at first, but like Shovel Knight’s bouncing, it quickly becomes a natural part of gameplay.īesides burrowing, Mina can jump into the air like Link can with the Roc’s Feather in the Game Boy Zelda games. Since Mina moves faster by burrowing than by walking, exploring Tenebrous Isle involves a lot of diving into the ground, hopping out of it, and diving back down again. Mina still needs to breathe, though, and can only hold her breath for so long before she has to pop out of the ground again. This lets her move very quickly under obstacles and enemies, making it a fundamental part of both combat and solving puzzles. As a Hollower and a cute rodent, Mina can burrow underground. Yacht Club Games gave her a unique mechanic that informs how the dungeons are designed and how you play (just like Shovel Knight and his pogo-stick-like shovel). Mina is a different type of hero than Link. Part Link, Part Belmont (and a Little Bit of Bloodborne) This plays out in an overhead perspective that's similar to the Game Boy Color Legend of Zelda games, complete with destructible pots, pits to jump over, and blocks that need keys to unlock them. Mina traverses the island’s overworld to find dungeons, with each one filled with enemies, puzzles, and a boss protecting the broken Spark generator. It’s a Legend of Zelda-like quest with a matching game structure and visual perspective. The adventure takes Mina to Tenebrous Isle's far corners, delving into dungeon-like settings to repair the Spark generators and save the island. Now, the island is in danger, because the Spark generators that drive so much of it have been sabotaged, and Mina needs to fix them. Mina is a particularly notable Hollower, because her research led her to invent the Spark technology that has enabled Tenebrous Isle’s prosperity. Hollowers are geologist-adventurers who study the earth by burrowing under it. Mina the Hollower follows an adorable mouse named Mina, who is a Hollower. Yacht Club Games sent me a demo build to play on Steam, and I’m very impressed with what I’ve played so far. That project is Mina the Hollower, and it aims to deliver a unique, overhead, action-RPG experience that faithfully evokes The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening and Oracle of Ages/Seasons as much as Shovel Knight’s unique side-scrolling platformer experience faithfully evokes DuckTales and Mega Man. So, yes, I’m optimistic about Yacht Club Games’ ability to deliver on another crowdfunded project.
